In 2021 like most people I was on lockdown, I was also recuperating from an operation. I found myself with lots of time on my hands and not able
to much physical or creative work. I started listening to lots of new music and genres. What I heard was very inspiring and I began to formulate ideas around what I was experiencing physically, emotionally & aurally.
Thus 'Walls' slowly began to take shape.

There is a saying, 'If you can't change the circumstances, change
your perspective' and I did change - the notion that walls can also
shield and offer protection, as opposed to being barriers or obstacles.
I also changed how I felt about & reacted to sounds around me!

One of my least favourite sounds is that of constant, heavy traffic.
Having lived near busy streets for many years, I found myself again
living close to a main road. I took field recordings from the front of
the house & garden. I also photographed the roadside wall and used these images in software which converted them into sounds, these formed the basis of Walls.

I have been listening to ambient music for many years, but the genres of ambient noise & ambient/harsh noise wall were very new to me. I liked the idea of a 'sound wall' and it tied into this project.

On Walls, two tracks could be classed as ambient noise and the other two would be more akin to harsh ambient noise. Whilst not traditionally 'noise walls' there are elements of this on some of the tracks.
