Eidolon 03:44
In ancient Greek literature, an eidolon ('image, idol, double, apparition, phantom, ghost'; plural: eidola or eidolons) is a spirit-image of a living or dead person; a shade or phantom look-alike of the human form

about

Eidola deals with navigating and traversing unfamiliar terrain, both socially and emotionally and rising to meet the challenges of uncertainty and change.
This release is different for me as I primarily used images and the process of sonification to produce the sound samples. There are only a handful of field recordings used on two tracks.
I wanted to let the resulting sounds from the sonification process 'speak' for themselves, so I didn't use huge amounts of effects whilst post-processing/digital editing.
I arranged the bulk of these samples and tracks towards the end of 2023 and I only returned to them in March 2024. I was hesitant and unsure as to how I would feel about them after such an absence, but the break had a positive effect and I felt like I was hearing them from the first time.

Some of the samples might sound familiar to the listener, as other versions have been used in previous pieces. The tracks on Eidola are stripped back, even some of the 'artifacts' have been left in place, as they are part of the sonification process and fitted the more industrial tracks.
There is more relevant information on each of the tracks.
Also included in the download are nine Eidola related images.

Thanks for listening/reading, P.
