Stasis is the second incarnation of Terra Firma, a release I produced
on Audacity in 2021. I held off publishing it until now as I knew that I would be able to give it a better sound on Ableton.

Terra Firma was produced during the Covid lockdowns and after my transplant when everything seemed strange and alien; travel restrictions, my own post-operation restrictions and the general sense of uncertainty which most of the world was experiencing at the time.

Stasis also deals with the notion 'coming back (down) to earth' and 'coming home' after my treatment and kidney transplant. I was eager
to get going/travelling again after enduring so many restrictions for so long. I also have an interest in space, space travel and the cosmos!

The bonus tracks (which add up nearly 30 minutes) I have included two versions of 'Sleep', these are akin to soundscapes from deep space travel, a spacecraft running on auto whilst all the astronauts are 'in stasis'. These could also be used for relaxation, meditation purposes!

The third bonus track is Terra Firma, which became RTH EMCON.
I didn't alter this track from the original file, so it probably might seem
very basic and the levels might be a little bass-heavy in a few places. Clocking in at 12 minutes, it is what it is! ... more

For Stasis, I didn't want to change the sound from the original Terra Firma. The original field recordings were pretty raw and my software at the time didn't have a whole lot of sound editing effects, so I used Ableton Live to give the tracks more of a boost/ to make them sound thicker. Even though Terra Firma was only made two years ago, it seems (sounds?) retro and it gives me a warm sense of nostalgia!
